Car Wreck by The Devil Makes Three ukulele Chords

Car Wreck by Devil Makes Three
Tabbed By: Taylor Sansom

Capo 4

I’m still not sure of the picking pattern but when I get it I’ll tab it out as well. I’m
90% sure of the chords except it might go C to Am in the verse instead of C to F but
both sound pretty good and can be accomplished with a slight change in your singing. C/B
is just the walkdown/transition chord between C and Am

[C]He grew up in a o[F]ne-horse town
[G]Wasn’t much to do since all them [C]bars had closed [G]down
[C]He’d stare up to the stars sometimes when [F]no one was around
A[G]nd he dreamed of getting [C]out

So he [F]bought himself a pick-up truck that was [G]covered up in rust
He found a [F]buddy for of shotgun seat that was [G]someone he could trust
And they [C]hit the gas, [C/B]headed west out [Am]to the setting sun
[F]When the dust had [G]cleared, they were [C]gone.

Well [F]leaving just came natural, that’s the [G]way it seemed to him
He’d been [F]doing it so long, that’s the [G]way he’d always been
And you can [C]find him in some [C/B]hotel room with the [Am]television on
H[C]e might be [C/B]high and he’ll [Am]probably ramble on
You can [C]laugh beneath [C/B]fluorescent lights and [Am]drink until the dawn
But in the [F]mornin’….in the [G]mornin’ when you wake up he’ll be [C]gone.

[C]So he met a girl in a [F]town along the way
She had [G]beautiful brown eyes and a [C]place that he could [G]stay
[C]So he fell in love, and she [F]fell in love in kind
I[G]t was so perfect that of [C]course he lost his [G]mind.

He [F]snuck of the kitchen one [G]day before the dawn
S[F]he called out after him and [G]ran across the lawn
And he [C]said some things that he [C/B]didn’t mean
That he’d [Am]best be travelin’ on
[F]She shed some [G]tears and he was [C]gone.

[C]Eighteen years later, fifteen-[F]hundred miles from home
H[G]e can’t shake her from his mind though the [C]whiskey soaks his [G]bones
He[C] heads out on a back-roads in the [F]middle of the night
H[G]ead up to the meadow, you know he [C]timed that curve just [G]right
But some [F]bridges you cross over but the [G]rest you’ve got to burn
He [F]may have lost the road the road but I [G]know he made his turn

And as we [C]pulled him from the [C/B]wreckage, I p[Am]romised him a song
[F]Cuz it was [G]clear that he was [C]gone.
